(A). MODERN TERMINALS 1. KICT – Karachi International Container Terminal (At berth Nos.26-30 West side) 2. PICT – Pakistan International Container Terminal (At Berth Nos.5-9 East Side) 3. SAPT- South Asia Pacific Terminal ( situated at the estuary of the Kemari Groyne basin) 4. QICT – Qasim International Container Terminal (40 kilometers from KPT port) 5. KPT – linked by a road about an hour drive Connection by sea. These terminals are equipped with modern equipment’s such as gantry cranes, rubber tire’s gantries, straddle carriers, Mafi trailers etc.
(B) CONVENTIONAL BERTHS AT KPT West Wharf (B.No.18-25) East Wharf (B.No.1-4 & 10-17) Conventional berths suitable only for self-sustained vessels. All Feeder vessels call at these wharves. The usage of these wharves by the container ships has gradually reduced and it will continue to reduce due to patronizing of Terminals by Main Lines. OFF DOCK FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE AT: • AICT (Al Hamd Container Terminal about 6km at Hawks bay Road) • Qasim Freight Station (About 4km from Port Qasim) • Pak Shaheen Container Terminal (At Keamari 2km from Karachi East Wharf)
DRY PORTS IN PAKISTAN: – As the name suggests, a dry port is a port that is away from the sea. It is more inland and connected to a seaport with either a paved road or railway. Dry ports are terminals where cargo brought over on ships is transshipped.
